Five Events Happening This Spring

With the weather warming up, spring events are in full swing. Glacier and the surrounding area boasts a wide variety of activities to enjoy. Whether you’re looking for an adults-only outting or something that the whole family can enjoy, read on to learn about five spring events to mark on your calendar.

Earth Day Parade and Celebration 

April 22, 2023

Bring out the whole family for this year’s Earth Day Parade and Celebration. The event will kick off with a parade in Downtown Durango starting at 10:00am, followed by a festive celebration at Buckley Park from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Visitors can browse booths, enjoy live music, grab some food and attend sustainability workshops.

Durango Bluegrass Meltdown

April 21 – April 23, 2023

Make plans to attend this year’s 2023 Durango Bluegrass Meltdown, a highly-attended event that is celebrating its 27th year. Attendees can look forward to a wide array of musical performances happening in local venues around town.  Presented by the Durango Arts Center, the festival will take place from 10:00am to 10:00pm each day. To guarantee a spot, be sure to buy tickets in advance. 

Durango Wine Experience

Taking place April 29 – May 1, 2023

Taking place in Downtown Durango, the Durango Wine Experience is one that you don’t want to miss. Guests will have plenty of activities to choose from, such as educational seminars, wine dinners and unique tastings. You’ll have the chance to try samples from some of the best wineries, artisan spirits and craft beers in the region. In addition to having an enjoyable time, ticket sales will benefit the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado. 

Iron Horse Bicycle Classic

May 27 – May 28, 2023

The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic has been a local tradition since it was first established in 1972. The race stretches over 25 scenic miles spanning the distance from Durango to Purgatory Resort. Riders will bike through the Animas River Valley before tackling a vertical climb of more than 2,300 feet. 

Outdoor Adventures 

If you’re wanting to do something closer to home, then there’s no shortage of outdoor adventures  at the Glacier Club – regardless of the season. Try your hand at rock climbing, enjoy the scenery of Colorful Colorado on horseback or get your adrenaline pumping by ziplining. Regardless of which adventure you choose, you can look forward to making unforgettable memories with your loved ones this spring.
